Routes 205 and N205

We review the bus network regularly to ensure services remain efficient, safe and reliable for our customers.

We have developed a proposal for route 205 and its night service that would:

  • Re-route the 205 and N205 direct via Marylebone Road, so it would no longer serve Melcombe Place.
  • Mean the 205 and N205 would no longer serve stops at Marylebone station
  • Mean a decrease to the frequency of service Monday to Saturday from every 8 minutes to every 9 minutes, to better match demand.

Why are we proposing this?

Route 205 currently serves Marylebone Station by running via Melcombe Place in both directions.

Running via Marylebone Road rather than Marylebone Station would reduce journey time for the vast majority of customers using this service. This would also help improve reliability and resilience on this route.

We are also proposing to decrease the frequency of service Monday to Saturday from every 8 minutes to every 9 minutes, to better match demand.

A map of the proposed changes can be found below:

A summary of our analysis of this route and the data supporting the case for change can be found here in the Central London bus services supporting material.

How will these proposals change my journey?

Passengers traveling to or from Marylebone station could use route 2 or 453 or make a 150 metre walk between Marylebone Road and the station.

Our Hopper fare would ensure there would be no additional fare for doing this within one hour.

Customers traveling between Paddington and Marylebone station can also use the Bakerloo line.

When would these changes start?

We will review and use the feedback from this consultation to help inform and shape these proposals. We may decide to change our proposals in light of comments or we may decide to go ahead as proposed. However, if we significantly revise our proposals we will run a new consultation to find out what people think.

If we go ahead with these proposals, they would be introduced in early 2019.
