Overview

Route 271 (night service)

Our proposals

We review the bus network regularly to ensure services remain efficient, safe, reliable, and provide good value for money to our customers.

We have developed a proposal for the night service on route 271, which would:

  • Withdraw the 271 night service on all nights

The 271 night service currently runs all days of the week from midnight to 5.30am.

Usage on the route 271 night service usage has fallen following the opening of Night Tube at weekends, and has also fallen on weekdays. We are therefore proposing to remove this service between 11:45pm and 06:00am.

Removing this service would mean that Canonbury Road and part of North Road and Highgate Hill would not be served by the night bus network. The number of weeknight passengers who board and alight at stops on these sections is set out below:

  • Canonbury Road – 30 trips per night
  • New North Road – 27 trips per night
  • Highgate Hill – 42 trips per night

A map of the proposed change can be found below:

How will these proposals affect my journey?

Customers who board and alight on New North Road are within 400 metres of alternative night routes on the southern section of New North Road and Essex Road.

Customers on Canonbury Road are within 400 metres of night routes on Essex Road, St. Paul’s Road and Upper Street.

Customers on Highgate Hill are within 400 metres of night routes at Archway and Highgate Village; apart from nine of the 42 boarders and alighters who use a stop that is within 650 metres of other services.
