We keep the London bus network under regular review and asked to hear your views about our plans for route 263.

We want to improve connections with Highbury & Islington station and increase the number of buses available for people to use along Holloway Road. The route currently runs between Barnet Hospital and Holloway Road.

We proposed to extend route 263 to Highbury Barn, serving Holloway Road, Highbury Corner (for Highbury & Islington station), St Paul’s Road and Highbury Grove. The route will terminate at Highbury Barn with buses using the existing bus stand at Highbury Barn, adjacent to the clock tower on Highbury Hill.

The service will continue to run at the same frequencies as now. Buses run every 10 minutes during the day Monday to Saturday and every 12 minutes each evening and Sundays.

Demand for buses along the Holloway Road continues to grow. This includes people wanting to use the improved train services at Highbury & Islington station.

Extending the 263 will provide a more frequent service along Holloway Road, helping improve connections to and from Highbury & Islington and Holloway Road stations. Buses will continue to Highbury Barn providing a direct bus service to and from Holloway Road.

Extending the route to Highbury Barn means buses will no longer go round the Nag’s Head one-way system to head back to Barnet. Three bus stops will no longer be served by the 263, but will continue to be served by other bus routes.
