We decided in April 2015 not to progress with this scheme in this form (set out below). We are though intending to launch a new consultation in June 2016 on different proposals which include routes 13, 82, 113, 139 and 189.
Update on 17 April 2015
There has been a high level of interest in this consultation. We received over 3000 responses to the consultation which is now closed. However, concerns have been expressed that the consultation has been partially undertaken during the pre-election period which runs until 7th May.
It is therefore our intention not to progress the scheme at this time. The comments received from this consultation will however be used to inform future bus network planning in the Finchley Road and Abbey Road areas, and any resulting proposals would be subject to further public consultation.

We have recently carried out a review of routes 13, 82, 113, 139, 189, N13, and N113 and would like to hear your views on our proposals.
Travel habits are changing. Reflecting this, we have reviewed bus services in the Abbey Road, Finchley Road, South and West Hampstead areas. Our review takes into account, the number of passenger on each route, journey times, and origin and destination details. In addition it takes account of improved services on the Tube, the potential impact new developments may have and the aspirations of our stakeholders, for example the impact of bus traffic in the West End, including Oxford Street.
Our Tube modernisation plan means journeys are more reliable, many lines now have a better service. We’ve also introduced new, longer trains on many lines.
The full details of our proposals for routes 13, 82, 113, 139, 189, N13, and N113 are set out below and include changes to both day and night bus services.
Why we are consulting
We are proposing to make changes to bus services on routes 13, 82, 113, 139, 189, N13 and N113.
Routes 13 and N13 would no longer run
Route 82 would run 24 hours a day
Route 113 would be extended to Oxford Circus
Route 139 would be extended to Golders Green
Route 189 would run between Brent Cross and Marble Arch.
New night route N189 would run between Brent Cross and Oxford Circus
Frequencies would be changed on route 113

The illustrated frequencies take account of other buses that serve these roads, but that do not necessarily form part of our package of proposals. Route 13 Aldwych – Golders Green
Route 139 Waterloo – West Hampstead
Route N13 Aldwych – North Finchley
Route 139 would be extended to Golders Green from West Hampstead serving Fortune Green Road and Finchley Road. Buses would run 24 hours a day as now. There would be no change to frequencies on route 139 with buses running every 8 minutes during the day Monday to Saturday. In the evening and on Sundays buses would run every 12 minutes. Buses would run every 30 minutes through the night, every night of the week.
Routes 13 and N13 would no longer run. The extension of the 139 would maintain connections between Golders Green and the West End (see below).
Routes 82 and 113 will continue to serve Finchley Road, with a combined service of 15 buses an hour. Route 82 would provide a round the clock link between North Finchley, the West End and Victoria.

Route 113 Marble Arch – Edgware Station
N113 Trafalgar Square – Edgware Station
We propose that route 82 becomes a 24-hour service with buses running every 30 minutes at night, every night of the week. This maintains some connections currently provided by the N13. There would be with no changes to the day 82 service.
We also propose that route 113 is extended to Oxford Circus. This would ensure connections, currently provided by the 13, between Finchley Road and Oxford Street are maintained.
Frequencies on the 113 would be increased, with buses running every 8 minutes during the day Monday to Saturday. Buses would run every 6 minutes in the morning and evening peak periods. Currently buses run every 10 minutes with enhancements during the peaks. On Sundays buses would run every 12 minutes instead of every 20 minutes. The increased frequency would ensure capacity is sufficient for demand along the Finchley Road.
This would also increase frequencies on the Hendon, Mill Hill and Edgware Way section of the 113. There will be no change to the N113.
Route 189 Oxford Circus – Brent Cross
New route N189 Oxford Circus – Brent Cross Shopping Centre
We propose that the 189 is diverted to Marble Arch, no longer serving Oxford Circus. Route 139 would continue to connect Abbey Road with Oxford Circus. New route N189 running between Oxford Circus and Brent Cross, will maintain connections between Oxford Circus and Abbey Road. Buses would run every 30 minutes every night of the week.
