Bus Stop Proposal – Central Road, St Helier

Closed 5 Sep 2011

Opened 25 Jul 2011

Overview

Transport for London (TfL) has been working with Merton Council and local representatives to review the use being made of bus stop D and nearby parking facilities on Central Road, St Helier. This follows requests for an increase in parking spaces.

Why We Are Consulting

TfL has considered moving the bus stop to an alternative location in response to local suggestions about parking and loading facilities. This would mean a rearrangement of parking spaces in the area by Merton Council and local representatives believe that it may be preferable to remove the stop altogether, as no suitable alternative bus stop location could be found.

Route 470 currently serves stop D with 2 buses per hour. It is used by around 15 to 30 passengers per day. Bus stop C is about 160 metres north on Central Road or passengers can board and alight in the Hail & Ride part of Farm Road.

Please see the map below. As removal of stop D would affect some bus users, we would like to know what you think before any change is made.

What Happens Next

This consultation is now closed.

We are currently reviewing comments received. Our decision will be made available on this webpage once plans are finalised.

All feedback is considered during the decision-making process. Final plans also take account of other relevant factors including financial, legal, safety and technical issues. Some decisions, such as highway changes, also depend on decisions made by London boroughs.
