We recently consulted on proposals to restructure the bus network in and around New Addington and Forestdale. This also included an extension of route 359 to Purley and an increase in frequency.
We received 838 responses to the consultation. There were 829 from members of the public and nine responses from stakeholders. We also received three petitions relating to specific aspects of the proposals.
After carefully considering all the responses, we have made a decision.
After listening to stakeholder and public responses we have made some changes to the original proposals.
We are looking at introducing the scheme in Autumn 2015, subject to necessary works being carried out.

We also proposed that route 64 would operate 24-hours per day, seven days a week replacing route N64 which would no longer run. It would run every 30 minutes at night, the same as route N64 now.
Homestead Way between Overbury Crescent and Comport Green, King Henry’s Drive between Arnhem Drive and Vulcan Way, and Vulcan Way would now be served at night.
Arnhem Drive itself would no longer have a night service but all stops are within 400 metres (about 5 minutes walk) to stops that will continue to be served at night.

We proposed to extend the route from Addington Village Interchange to Forestdale. This would give new direct links on route 353 from Forestdale to Hayes and Locksbottom (for Princess Royal University Hospital) as well as replacing route T31.

We proposed to significantly extend the route from Selsdon, Sainsbury’s to Purley and to run seven days a week between 0700 and 1945. Currently the service runs between about 1000 and 1500 on Monday to Saturday only. This would give a residents in the Monks Hill estate a more frequent and daily service. The extension would give residents on Purley Downs Road a bus service where we would also propose to introduce bus stops.
From Selsdon, Sainsbury’s buses would run via Addington Road, Sanderstead Hill, Purley Downs Road and Brighton Road to terminate at Purley. The buses would also run along the same roads in the opposite direction (towards Addington Village Interchange).
