Bus service proposal: route 133

Closed 20 Jul 2012

Opened 14 Jun 2012

Overview

The London bus network is kept under regular review. As part of this, we develop proposals for changes to services.

Why We Are Consulting

We have developed proposals for Route 133 and would like to hear your views.

Route 133 runs between Liverpool Street Station and Streatham, St. Leonard’s Church via Elephant and Castle. Its current last stop in Streatham is in Babington Road (stop SL), and the current first stop is in Tooting Bec Gardens (stop SW).

We propose to extend the route from St. Leonard’s Church to a new stop at Streatham Station on the site of the former Streatham Ice Arena and Leisure Centre, as part of the Streatham Hub development.  This will be from 29 September 2012, subject to consultation and completion of the necessary works at the site.

Streatham Hub is currently served by routes 60, 159 (24-hour) and P13 at a temporary bus stand. The new stops for these routes and route 133 will give better waiting areas and substantially improve interchange between buses and rail. Buses will also serve stops SK and SA at St. Leonard’s Church on Streatham High Road, a short walk from the current first and last stops which will no longer be served.

After the change has been implemented, route 133 would no longer run along Mitcham Lane, Ambleside Avenue and Tooting Bec Gardens (stop SW).
