Have your say on proposed changes to route 30

Closes 15 Mar 2019

Opened 1 Feb 2019

Overview

The London Bus network is kept under constant review. As part of this we develop proposals for changes to services.

What are we proposing?

We are proposing a change to bus route 30, which currently operates via a one-way system in the Homerton area between Morning Lane and Kenworthy Road, running eastbound towards Hackney Wick via Kenton Road and Cassland Road and westbound towards Hackney Central via Wick Road.

We are proposing to reroute the 30 away from Kenton Road and Cassland Road eastbound, and instead run it direct via Wick Road as it currently does westbound. It would serve three new eastbound bus stops. No changes are proposed to routes 26, 388 or N26.

Why are we proposing these changes?

The London Borough of Hackney have developed a scheme to make Wick Road two-way to all traffic with improvements to the pedestrian environment and for cyclists, which would enable route 30 to run two-way via Wick Road. The proposal would reduce journey times for passengers, provide a simpler service and reduce mileage.

Why are we consulting?

The London Borough of Hackney are making Wick Road two-way between Morning Lane and Kenworthy Road and are providing three new eastbound bus stops to allow route 30 to run two-way on this road. Because this would be a permanent change to route 30 we would like to hear your views.

The Valentine Road stop (stop B) is currently only used by buses on route 30  so it would no longer be used by buses setting down and picking up passengers, however it may be retained as a bus stand to help regulate buses; this is being discussed with the London Borough of Hackney.

Specifically, we are interested in your views on:

  • Route 30 no longer serving four stops: one on Kenton Road, and three on Cassland Road
  • Route 30 serving three new stops on Wick Road
