Results updated 11 Mar 2020

We received 125 responses to the consultation; 121 from members of the public and four from stakeholders. We have reviewed the responses received and used these to help us make a better informed decision. We plan to go ahead with the extension to the hospital as outlined in the consultation.

Subject to planning permission, the hospital is about to begin some major building works which involve moving the main car park temporarily, for about one year. They are hoping to begin this in early summer 2020. The entrance to the car park will move from Dorking Road to Woodcote Green Road.

Therefore in light of the proposed works at the hospital, the introduction date will be delayed until 29 May 2021. Our consultation report can be found below.

Overview

We keep the bus network under regular review, to provide the best service possible for customers in the most cost effective way.

We are proposing to make changes to route 470 by extending the route to Epsom Hospital and would like your feedback.

What are we proposing?

We are proposing to extend the 470 to serve Epsom Hospital. This would improve access to Epsom Hospital, and provide a more direct route between Sutton Hospital and Epsom Hospital.

Our proposals would not impact the frequency or size of the bus.

The proposal means the 470 would no longer terminate at Epsom Clock Tower. Instead the 470 would serve Epsom Hospital via Woodcote Green Road and back to Epsom via Dorking Road.

Impact on protected groups

We have undertaken an Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA). The EqIA examines what impact (positive or negative) all of the proposed route changes have on customers with characteristics protected by the Equality Act 2010.

We consider the impacts of bus service change proposals on equality groups throughout the planning process ensuring, where possible, effective mitigations are in place where no viable alternative is available. The EqIA can be found below.
