Bus service proposal: route 931

Closed 23 Dec 2016

Opened 28 Nov 2016

Results Updated 31 May 2017

Between 28 November and 23 December 2016, we consulted on proposals to withdraw route 931. We received 24 responses to the consultation, of which, the majority supported or partially supported our proposals.

We proposed to withdraw the route because usage of this service had become low. Regular users of route 931 were also eligible to use our Transport for London Dial-a-Ride (DaR) services, which provides a more flexible service for the low number of existing passengers.

After reviewing the comments from the consultation, we decided to go ahead with withdrawal of the service.

A representative from TfL has had face-to-face engagement with existing passengers and as a result all existing users have become DaR members.

London Boroughs of Southwark, Lewisham and Bromley were supportive of the proposals and had no objections to our proposal.

Route 931 was withdrawn from service on Friday 19 May 2017.

Overview

The London bus network is kept under regular review. As part of this, we develop proposals for changes to services.

Why are we consulting?

We have developed proposals for route 931 and would like to hear your views.

What are we proposing?

Route 931: Crystal Palace to Lewisham Town Centre.

The 931 currently runs between Crystal Palace and Lewisham Town Centre. It runs one journey at 10:00 from Crystal Palace to Lewisham Town Centre in the morning with one return journey at 12:50 from Lewisham Town Centre to Crystal Palace in the afternoon.

The route serves the Kingswood Estate and Hillcrest Estate in Crystal Palace.

There are around six regular passenger trips taken each week, from the two estates. Most of these passengers would be eligible to use our Dial-a-Ride service. Therefore, to make better use of our resources, we are proposing that route 931 would no longer run.

Face to face discussions with the users have taken place. In order to help those passengers who are unable to access other buses to get to and from Lewisham Town Centre and back to Crystal Palace, users would need to become Dial-a-Ride members. Help to sign up would be made available.

Subject to the outcome of consultation, the changes would take place in January 2017.
