Bus service proposal: Route H1 - Golders Green Station and Henrietta Barnett School

Results Updated 30 Apr 2013

We received a total of 138 responses, 137 of which were submitted on line and one response was submitted by email.  This included responses from Henrietta Barnett School and a local ward Councillor from the London Borough of Barnet.  Nearly all respondents were in favour of the proposed changes, with only three against one or more of the aspects proposed.

After carefully considering all responses, we have made a decision to go ahead with the proposals as follows:

  • Journeys from Golders Green Station to Henrietta Barnett School will no longer use Golders Green Road and the western part of Hoop Lane, but will run straight along Finchley Road towards the school. From the school, buses would use Northway, Central Square and Southway to Bigwood Road, returning to Golders Green via Meadway and Finchley Road;
  • Four  journeys will now be provided at school times in the morning and afternoon instead of the 3 currently provided;
  • The route will be renumbered 631.

Overview

The London bus network is kept under regular review. As part of this, we develop proposals for changes to services.

Why we consulted

We proposed changes to route H1 to allow an extra journey to be run in each peak.

 Route H1 - Golders Green Station and Henrietta Barnett School

Our proposal will see the H1 run via a shorter routeing between Henrietta Barnett School and Golders Green Station. From Golders Green Station buses would no longer use Golders Green Road and the western part of Hoop Lane, but go straight along Finchley Road towards the school. From the school, buses would use Northway, Central Square and Southway to Bigwood Road, returning to Golders Green via Meadway and Finchley Road. Route H2 will still run via North Square, Erskine Hill, Willifield Way and Hampstead Way.

The shorter routeing will allow four journeys to be provided in both the morning and the afternoon instead of the three journeys currently provided. The same size of vehicle will continue to be used.

No changes are proposed to routes H2 and H3.

New route number - 631

TfL will also take the opportunity to renumber the service from H1 to 631 in line with other school day only services.
