Bus service proposal: route 470

Results Updated 28 Dec 2011

Merton Council’s Street Management Committee considered the results of TfL’s bus service consultation together with their own consultation on changes to the Liberty Avenue/Windsor Avenue width restriction. The decision has been made not to make the change due to concerns over the changes to traffic and the width restriction that would be required to enable the 470 bus service into the Industrial Park.  For more information please see Merton Council’s website at:

Overview

The London bus network is kept under regular review. As part of this, we develop proposals for changes to services.

In early 2011, we asked for views on a possible change to bus route 470 at Merantun Way/Merton Industrial Park. TfL’s consultation results can be found at the bottom of this page.

This change was being considered as part of wide ranging improvements to the South Wimbledon Business Area to encourage more walking, cycling and the use of public transport.

  • Route 470 would go along Jubilee Way, Windsor Avenue and Liberty Avenue instead of Mertantun Way
  • Changes to the Liberty Avenue/Windsor Avenue width restriction would enable the bus to access homes and businesses in the Industrial Park.
