Section 5 - Woolwich Road/Warspite Road

Closes 16 Feb 2020

Opened 6 Jan 2020

Overview

Our proposals for this section are:

  • An eastbound and westbound traffic lane would be re-designated as bus lanes, which would operate from 07:00 - 19:00 Monday to Saturday
  • We would make the pedestrian crossing near to the junction of the A206 Woolwich Road with Tamer Street more direct, and enable cyclists to use it
  • A new raised table at each junction with Tamer Street to slow traffic and make it easier for people to cross
  • A new, two-way segregated Cycleway running along the south side of the A206 Woolwich Road. We would need to reduce the size of the roundabout at Warspite Road and Ruston Road to provide the extra space needed
  • An existing pedestrian crossing on Woolwich Church Street (sited currently to the east of the Warspite Road roundabout) would be moved 50m closer to the roundabout, to give people a more direct route
  • Bus stop U would be sited on a new ‘bus stop bypass
  • We would plant new trees and provide additional landscaping to improve the look and feel of the area

These proposed changes are illustrated in the drawing below.
