Brixton Town Centre

Closes 31 Dec 2020

Opened 1 Jul 2020

In May 2020 we made the following temporary changes:

  • Extended the footway on the eastern side of Brixton High Street between 447 Brixton High Street and the junction with Coldharbour Lane to provide extra space for pedestrians, so that people can practice safe social distancing
  • Used temporary materials and barriers to allow pedestrians to use the area buses previously stopped in, as well as the pavement
  • Extended the footway at nearby bus stops so that our bus services continue to be accessible

Changes to bus stopping arrangements are as follows:

  • Bus stop N will serve routes 25, 355, 109, 118, 250, P4, N35, N109 and N250
  • Bus stop P will be temporarily closed
  • Bus stop Q will serve routes 196, 2, 415, 432, N2

Although we are not undertaking a formal consultation on any Streetspace schemes, we would like to know about your experiences of them. If you have any comments about the effects of our scheme, or suggestions for changes or improvements we might make, please let us know at:

We will continue to monitor the effects of these temporary changes over the coming months. This includes their effects on traffic flow, road safety and cycling and walking rates. We have written to local people, businesses and other stakeholders to explain what changes we have made and encouraged them to provide us their views and experiences of the changes. We will listen carefully to the feedback we receive.
