The Olympic Route Network - A406 Hanger Lane to Great Central Way

Closed 11 Apr 2011

Opened 8 Mar 2011

Transport for London is consulting on temporary changes to the way some roads will operate for the London 2012 Games next summer.

The roads are part of the Olympic and Paralympic Route Network (ORN/PRN) which will link Games venues and accommodation.  They will be used to transport key participants, like athletes, officials and media, to their destinations on time. They will be open to general traffic and will be kept clear of obstructions, such as planned road works.  In addition, to keep traffic moving on these priority routes, there will be some temporary changes to the way the road can be used.

The Olympic Route Network is needed along A406 Hanger Lane to Great Central Way to provide a link to Wembley Stadium and Wembley Arena along the North Circular Road (A406).

Engagement Exercise

TfL undertook an engagement exercise between 8 March and 11 April 2011 for the section of ORN known as A406 Hanger Lane to Great Central Way. We wrote to residents and businesses within 400m of the ORN/PRN as well as local passenger and resident groups and other key stakeholders seeking their feedback on the proposals for the temporary changes to the roads in this area.  We also held two drop-in sessions.

Thank you for those who took part in the consultation exercise, replying either by our website, in writing, via the telephone or attending our drop-in sessions.

The views of those who responded have been recorded in the engagement report which can be found here

In addition, following a request from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), we are required to increase the A406 Games Lane operational hours from 07:00 to 23:00 to 07:00 to 00:00 (midnight), to coincide with the latest competition times.

What happens next

A formal consultation period will take place as part of the process of introducing Traffic Regulation Orders, which are required by law to enforce the proposed changes. Notices of the proposals will be published in local newspapers, on lampposts along the route and on the TfL website.  This will provide an opportunity for formal representations to be submitted.

Once detailed proposals are finalised, we will continue to work with you to respond to your concerns and try to find solutions. Extensive travel Information before and during the Games will help you plan ahead and prepare for this once in a lifetime event.
