Overview

Summary of proposals

  • Segregated two-way cycle track on the north side of Evelyn Street
  • New toucan crossing (for pedestrians and cyclists) at Gosterwood Street
  • Prince Street becomes entry-only from Evelyn Street
  • Sayes Court Estate fence line moved back to maintain footway and bus lane
  • Changes to bus lanes and some bus stops
  • New loading bay between Blackhorse Road and Gosterwood Street
  • New double yellow line restrictions

Improvements for cycling

  • Segregated two-way cycle track on the north side of Evelyn Street and replaces eastbound bus lane between Gosterwood Street and Grove Street
  • Footway reduced between Grove Street and New King Street
  • The two-way cycle track would be 3 to 3.5 metres wide and the segregating kerb would be a minimum of 0.5 metres wide
  • New toucan crossing (for pedestrians and cyclists) at Gosterwood Street links proposed cycling Quietways on Dragoon Road and Gosterwood Street
  • Cycle priority provided across all side roads through raised junction treatments to reduce the speed of turning vehicles. Contrasting surfacing would be used at some side roads to remind motorists of the presence of cyclists

Improvements for walking

  • New toucan crossing (for pedestrians and cyclists) at Gosterwood Street with a small area of shared-use footway for pedestrians and cyclists on the north side
  • Pedestrian crossing between Grove Street and Abinger Grove relocated 20 metres east
  • New paving and decluttering of footways

Changes to buses

  • Eastbound bus lane between Gosterwoord Street and Grove Street replaced by the two-way cycle track
  • Westbound bus lane extended by 70 metres between Grove Street and Rolt Street
  • Sayes Court Estate fence line on the north side of Evelyn Street between Prince Street and New King Street moved back between 0.5 metres to 1.5 metres to maintain eastbound bus lane
  • Eastbound bus stop V at Deptford Fire Station relocated 60 metres to the west
  • Westbound bus stop N at Abinger Grove relocated 40 metres to the west
  • Eastbound bus stops on the north side of Evelyn Street would have bypasses for cyclists. These stops are eastbound stop V at Deptford Fire Station, stop W at Abinger Grove and stop at Sayes Court Estate (find out more about bus stop bypasses)

Road design and layout

  • Mini roundabout at Abinger Grove redesigned to improve alignment
  • Prince Street becomes entry-only from Evelyn Street. Our traffic counts show this movement is made by a maximum of 60 vehicles per hour

Changes to parking and loading

  • New 10-metre off-peak loading bay on north side of Evelyn Street between Blackhorse Road and Gosterwood Street
  • Double yellow lines (no parking at any time) replace single yellow line
    • On north side Evelyn Street between Grinstead Road and New King Street
    • On south side of Evelyn Street between Grinstead Road and Gosterwood Street
    • On south side of Evelyn Street between Grove Street and New King Street
  • Loading changed from peak-hour restrictions to 'No loading at any time' on north side of Evelyn Street west of Dragoon Road for 16 metres
