We received 120 responses to consultation. Thank you to all those who took part.

Although the majority of comments supported the provision of a night-time taxi rank at this location, the O2 Academy and Metropolitan Police Service raised concerns regarding the proposed location of the rank, as they felt it would not operate efficiently during busy events.

Having considered these concerns and undertaken further studies of the location, we have decided not to go ahead with these particular proposals. We will instead look at an alternative location for a night-time taxi rank in the area, and will write to residents, businesses and stakeholders once we have new designs.

Overview

What are we proposing?

We are proposing to convert an existing loading bay into a shared-use night-time taxi rank and daytime loading bay on the A203 Stockwell Road close to the O2 Brixton Academy. .

Our proposals aim to provide dedicated space for two taxis near the O2 Brixton Academy to help visitors get home. The existing loading bay outside property number 209 Stockwell Road would therefore operate as a night-time taxi rank. The bay’s hours of operation would be changed to include Sundays and therefore become no stopping at any time Monday-Sunday except loading 07:00 -19:00 and taxis 19:00 - 07:00. Other vehicles would not be able to wait in the bay at any time.
