Improvements for cycling

  • Segregated two-way cycle track on the north side of Creek Road, replacing eastbound general traffic lane between McMillan Street and Deptford Church Street
  • The two-way cycle track would be 3 to 4 metres wide and the segregating kerb would be a minimum of 0.5 metres wide
  • Cyclists travelling on CS4 would bypass traffic lights at the junction with Deptford Church Street junction. Dedicated low-level cycle traffic lights would provide a safe link between CS4 and Deptford Church Street
  • Segregated with-flow cycle track replaces northbound bus lane on Deptford Church Street
  • Segregated two-way cycle track replaces eastbound bus lane on Creek Road between Deptford Church Street and Creekside
  • Wider toucan crossing (for pedestrians and cyclists) near Creekside with improved cycle access
  • Cycle priority provided across all side roads through raised junction treatments to reduce the speed of turning vehicles. Contrasting surfacing would be used at some side roads to remind motorists of the presence of cyclists

Improvements for walking

  • New pedestrian crossing on the western arm of the Deptford Church Street junction
  • Wider pedestrian crossings on the other two arms with simpler crossing movements
  • Wider toucan crossing (for pedestrians and cyclists) near Creekside

Changes to buses

  • Eastbound bus lane between Deptford Church Street and Creekside replaced by the two-way cycle track
  • Westbound bus lane after Deptford High Street junction replaced by general traffic lane
  • Northbound bus lane on Deptford Church Street replaced by with-flow cycle track
  • Eastbound bus stops on the north side of Creek Road would have bypasses for cyclists. These stops are eastbound stop C at Deptford High Street and stop D at McMillan Students Village (find out more about bus stop bypasses)

Road design and layout

  • Eastbound general traffic lane between McMillan Street and Deptford Church Street replaced by the two-way cycle track
  • Westbound general traffic lane replaces bus lane directly after Deptford High Street
  • Wider footway on the south-east corner of Deptford Church Street
