Latest news: The Autumn 2013 consultation report is now available here

Good public transport is vital to help London thrive and remain the engine of the UK economy. More and more people have been using Bank Station each year.

We believe our customers would benefit from:

  • more space to move through the station and on/off Northern line trains
  • reduced interchange times between different lines
  • improved accessibility

Therefore we are proposing to make substantial improvements at Bank. We consulted in Summer 2011, Spring 2012 and most recently in Autumn 2013.

What happens next?

  • your views will be taken into account in progressing the scheme
  • a summary of consultation responses will be published online at
  • we will apply to the Secretary of State for a Transport & Works Act Order (TWAO)
  • there may be a public inquiry
  • if the TWAO is approved construction would start in 2016 and be complete in 2021
